Assessment Literacy Because--
With Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) teachers want to better understand the role of valid assessment of student learning that isn’t just another test.  SLOs can provide a way for educators to demonstrate what they do as professionals when they set learning goals, establish targets and design valid assessments.  The UEA has created an Assessment Literacy curriculum to support UEA members in better understanding assessment and implementing evaluation requirements, including SLOs. The curriculum was designed by educators for educators to help members increase teaching effectiveness and improve student outcomes. The UEA assessment curriculum includes five interactive workshops:
Relevant Workshop Modules
  1. Data-Driven Instruction
  2. Assessment Design
  3. Differentiated Assessment
  4. Self-Assessment: Rubrics, Goals and Reflection
  5. Effective Student Feedback

Effective and Flexible Workshop Sessions

  • Provide flexibility and convenience for busy educators: At any location, take a single workshop or attend all five
  • Include numerous interactive discussion questions and activities
  • Contain materials and resources to extend learning after the workshop
  • Afford educators opportunities to work together on assessment
  • Engage educators  in conversations about best practices
  • Offer Weber State credit and licensure points
